Brief Summary
I made my little photo studio in the basement of my house. I used a black velvet sheet
for the black backdrop and my dad as the model. I thought I would change the idea
of the picture to more of a music/crazy theme because I though it would look
more interesting, especially with the pink bandanna I made my dad wear.
To try and replicate the painting from the 1500's by El Greco I used a key light. It was placed left of the camera (about 75 degrees away from the subject), about 10 feet away from the subject and at about the same level of the camera. I thought the painting had the focus of lighting on the mans
head, so I used the key light to illuminate that area the most. I tried using a house lamp
for a fill light but it ruined the effect of blending the shirt into the background. It also lit everything up too much, this painting is not very bright to begin with.
