Guitar- Music
Nelly- My Dog
Hockey- My Sport
My Job
Cottage- Favorite Place
These five photographs have each been chosen for a specific reason, each having a significant impact on my life. I chose to include a picture of a family guitar in my best five pictures because music is very important to me and it impacts my feelings on daily basis. Guitar is one of my past times but this photo also represents music on a broader scale. Whether I am listening to my iPod before a hockey game or just getting inspired by listening to a song on the radio, music has a positive impact on feelings and events in my life, leaving my mind relaxed and open.
The second photo is a picture that I took of my dog Nelly. She is currently ten human years old and I can remember the day we picked her up from the kennel when she was only a couple of weeks old. She is part of my everyday life by keeping me company or having to walk her. She helps me clear my mind because she is such a great dog and I cant imagine my day to day lie without her in it.
I took this third photo last weekend during the "Hockey day in Canada" show that came to Oakville. I used selective focus because I thought it represented how I think about my favorite sport. When I am on the ice I don't think about that test I just failed or any problems I have at home, I just focus on when I am going to do next on the ice. Hockey is like taking a break from reality or from a crazy week, it clears my mind and is a huge part of my life.
The Blackstone skate sharpening machine represents my job. I love my job because I have a chance to sit by myself (because it is generally not busy) and do whatever I want. I usually listen my iPod and do my homework. I work about three times per week and unlike most people, I enjoy working because it gives me a chance to accomplish something and also get things done. It is a relaxed and uncluttered job that I intend to keep for as long as possible.
Last but not least is a picture I took when I visited my cottage last weekend. It is a cottage at its simplest form, it is not winterized and it is a tight squeeze for my family of five. I live there for two months in the summer. It looks much better in the summer months but it still captures the feelings I get when I go there. If I turned the camera 180 degrees you would see Lake Huron at its finest. It is located in a small town so we are able to bike everywhere and we know most people that cottage there. I have been going there my whole life and I feel like I am in heaven when I am there. Laying on the beach all day or playing tennis are a couple of activities I do there. This place clears my mind of my troubles and I cannot wait to go back at the end of June!
